SUBMIT
What do we want to see?
- Please limit poetry to three poems maximum per submission period. Each poem should match the theme of the issue to which it is being submitted. There is no strict word or line count limit.
- Please limit short fiction pieces to one maximum per submission period. Each piece should match the theme of the issue to which it is being submitted, with a word count limit of 1000-5000 words.
- Please limit flash fiction pieces to one maximum per submission period. Each piece should match the theme of the issue to which it is being submitted, with a word count limit of 1000 words or less.
- Please limit artwork to 2-3 pieces per submission period. Each piece should match the theme of the issue to which it is being submitted. Photography, paintings, digital art--any medium is accepted for consideration!
- We are by young authors, for young authors. We strive to give young authors a way to get their work out there. While Dualiterary is open to those of all ages and experience levels to submit to, we aim to promote young and emerging authors. Please specify if you are one in your cover letter!
- When it comes to our themes for our issues, they often contrast each other. You may choose either end of the theme's spectrum, or you may blend the two ends together to create an entirely new concept. The choice is yours!
-All genres of work are welcome!
- We do NOT take AI-generated work. If we suspect your work is AI, it will no longer be considered for publication. AI will never be able to understand the nuance or emotion any of our prompts may hold.
How to Submit
- Send your finished piece(s) to dualiterarymagazine@gmail.com in the form of a PDF, Word Document, or Google Document.
- Please include a cover letter in your submission document(s) that includes a third-person blurb about yourself! No more than 100 words.
- In the subject line of your email, please specify what you are submitting (ex. short fiction, poetry, etc) and what specific part of the theme that it is supposed to represent, or if it is a mix of both.
Here's an example of what we're looking for in subject lines:
Short Fiction, Golden Hour
-We accept simultaneous submissions, as long as you notify us that your piece has been accepted elsewhere. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept previously published works.
-Writers retain all rights to their work after publication. The magazine acquires first serial rights including print and electronic, after that, rights belong to the author. If you decide to publish your work in a larger collection, we just ask that you credit us for first publication.
